There are three types of honey bees within a hive: the queen, the workers, and the drones. A queen bee is the only female bee in the hive that gets to reproduce. Worker bees are all female, and are all offspring of the queen.
This piece was created using a preserved female worker bees, collected and donated by a local beekeeper after their natural deaths - never bought or killed for the purpose of creating art. It has been electroformed first in a thick layer of 100% copper, then a layer of palladium (white gold) and finally a layer of 24k gold.
The total length of this piece measures about an inch and comes on an 18-inch stainless steel chain. If you would prefer a different length of chain or leather cord, please include a note at checkout.
All electroformed jewelry includes a care sheet as well as a jewelry polishing cloth to keep your piece looking its finest.
