This one-of-a-kind octopus wet specimen necklace is completely preserved and sealed in an electroformed glass heart jar, topped with an amethyst glass crystal - it is reversible, so the crystal is present on both the front and back of the piece.
Each octopus tentacle is ethically sourced - they are a byproduct of the seafood industry and have been marked unusable for consumption. After being professionally "fixed" with formalin, they are stored in a 70/30 mixture of isopropyl alcohol (for preservation) and glycerin (to reduce evaporation). They are sealed with a layer of silicone and then a layer of epoxy clay before being covered in copper.
This piece measures about 2 inches in length and comes on a 20-inch antiqued copper chain. If you would prefer a different length of chain or leather cord, please include a note at checkout.
All electroformed jewelry includes a copper care sheet as well as a jewelry polishing cloth to keep your piece looking its finest. Wet specimen pieces include an additional care sheet to help protect your specimen.
