The carpenter bee is a large species of bee, recognizable by its furry thorax and shiny black abdomen. They are named for their nesting habits: large carpenter bees chew into solid wood to create a home for their young.
This piece was created using a preserved carpenter bee, found and collected from nature - never bought or killed for the purpose of creating art. It has been electroformed in 100% copper with a real paper wasp nest and a piece of raw heated amethyst.
