This piece is made with a real diaphonized mouse, carefully preserved and sealed in a cylindrical glass vial, electroformed in copper with a teardrop-shaped rainbow fluorite crystal at the top and an amethyst at the bottom. Look closely to see all of its tiny bones!
Diaphonization is a preservation technique invented in the 1970s to get a better look at a creatures anatomy. Also referred to as "clearing and staining," it uses chemicals to first remove all color, then dye the muscles, bones, and cartilage. The storage liquid is glycerin.
This piece measures just over 3 inches in length, and comes on a 24-inch antiqued copper box chain. If you would prefer a different length of chain or leather cord, please include a note at checkout.
All electroformed jewelry includes a copper care sheet as well as a jewelry polishing cloth to keep your piece looking its finest.
