This piece is made with a real diaphonized fish, carefully preserved and sealed in a long, hard plastic test tube, electroformed in copper with a bright amethyst crystal at the top and green onyx on the bottom. Look closely to see all of its tiny bones and scales!
Diaphonization is a preservation technique invented in the 1970s to get a better look at a creatures anatomy. Also referred to as "clearing and staining," it uses chemicals to first remove all color, then dye the muscles, bones, and cartilage.
This piece measures 3.5 inches in length, and comes on a 24-inch antiqued copper chain. If you would prefer a different length of chain or leather cord, please include a note at checkout.
All electroformed jewelry includes a copper care sheet as well as a jewelry polishing cloth to keep your piece looking its finest.
