Aurora Cicada Wing Necklace

This pendant is made with real BROOD XIX cicada wings, collected after their full natural life cycle in Kentucky. One signature characteristic of periodical (17 and 15 year) cicadas is that their wings are transparent - they also have reddish patterning on their wings and bodies, unlike the common green or black markings from annual broods. 

Wings have been carefully preserved and electroformed in 100% copper, along with a kite-shaped aurora opal resembling the northern lights.

This piece comes on a 20-inch antiqued copper chain. If you would prefer a different length of chain or leather cord, please include a note at checkout.
