Diaphonized Chameleon Vial
Diaphonized Chameleon Vial
This piece is made with a real diaphonized chameleon hatchling carefully preserved and sealed in a cylindrical glass vial, electroformed in copper with a teardrop-shaped amethyst crystal at the top and amazonite on the bottom. Look closely to see all of its tiny bones!
Diaphonization is a preservation technique invented in the 1970s to get a better look at a creatures anatomy. Also referred to as "clearing and staining," it uses chemicals to first remove all color, then dye the muscles, bones, and cartilage. The storage liquid is glycerin.
This piece measures about 3 inches in length, and comes on a 20-inch antiqued copper chain with a 2-inch extender. If you would prefer a different length of chain or leather cord, please include a note at checkout.
All electroformed jewelry includes a copper care sheet as well as a jewelry polishing cloth to keep your piece looking its finest.
