Magnesite Cicada

This 17-year cicada specimen was collected after its natural death. It has been carefully preserved and electroformed in 100% copper, with a teardrop-shaped magnesite stone replacing its abdomen. 

Cicadas are symbols of immortality and transformation - a reminder to move through change and life transitions with ease and grace rather than fear and resistance.

Magnesite turquoise is a soft stone that is color-enhanced to resemble turquoise. The gemstone naturally creates the dark to light brown veining, or matrix. It is associated with creativity and imagination.

The wingspan of this cicada measures 3 inches across, and comes on a 20-inch antiqued copper chain with a 2-inch extender. If you would prefer a different length of chain or leather cord, please include a note at checkout.
