This real fossilized megalodon tooth has been electroformed in copper and repaired using the kintsugi technique. The missing pieces of the tooth have been sculpted with copper, as well as a two raw amethyst crystals and an ammonite fossil with a tiny druzy pocket.
The megalodon was a giant shark that went extinct about 3.6 million years ago. There are different theories about estimating the shark's exact size based on its teeth, but according to Shimada's crown height equation we can estimate this specific shark to have reached about 15 feet in length.
Ammonites are another undersea fossil, related to our more modern nautilus. They went extinct 65 million years ago however, and can be found in many places around the world.
The pendant itself measures about 2.25 inches long and comes on a 20-inch antiqued copper chain. If you prefer a different chain length or leather cord, please include a note at checkout.
All copper jewelry also includes a copper care sheet as well as a jewelry polishing cloth to keep your piece looking its finest.
