Opal Crab Claw Necklace
Opal Crab Claw Necklace
Stone crabs are native to the warm waters around Florida, and are one species of crab that are able to be sustainably harvested. Once caught, only one claw is removed and the crab is returned to the water. The claw grows back within a year. For half the year, they are off limits, allowing them to mate and breed without interruption.
This crab claw was donated by a local fisherman. It is coated in a layer of clear resin for protection, and then electroformed in 100% copper. The cantera opal at the top of this piece was chosen for its brilliant orange color, but in the sunlight it flashes an entire rainbow.
The entire length measures about 2.25 inches and comes on a 24-inch box chain. If you would prefer a different style of chain or leather cord, please include a note at checkout.
All electroformed jewelry includes a copper care sheet as well as a jewelry polishing cloth to keep your piece looking its finest.
